Some 44 years after ‘losing’ one of his most treasured possessions, Manly legend Graham Eadie has been re-united with his last premiership jumper.

Eadie wore the jumper in the 1978 grand final replay – and swapped it with Cronulla opposite Rick Bourke after the Manly win.

« It was a great moment and you could see how special it was for ‘Wombat’ to finally get it back after all these years, » said one of Eadie’s Australian Kangaroos teammates Larry Corowa, who was on hand for the presentation in a small Gold Coast cafe on Tuesday.

Also there to witness the event was Manly godfather Ken Arthurson, who now calls the Gold Coast home.

After the game, Bourke gave the jersey to Mullane, Cronulla’s regular fullback who missed the game through injury.

Mullane kept it in a cupboard, but finally brought it to the Gold Coast when he attended the Magic Millions recently.

Mullane returned to Sydney without meeting up with Eadie, but entrusted former Sharks teammate John Purcell to pass it on to an emotional Eadie.

« It’s great to see old players do stuff like that for each other, » Corowa said.

« It shows the fantastic camaraderie in the game. »
