Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Aaron Jones, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kareem Hunt, more RBs affecting Week 12 start 'em, sit 'em decisions

Alvin Kamara (knee) and Mark Ingram (knee) missed Thanksgiving, while Jordan Howard (knee) and Michael Carter (ankle) are expected to be out on Sunday, so the running back position is already thinned out heading into Week 12. Several more key RBs, including Aaron Jones, Cordarrelle Patterson, Kareem Hunt, and Elijah Mitchell, figure to be « questionable, » which will cause even more start ’em, sit ’em headaches. We have the latest injury updates to help with your lineup decisions.

Aaron Jones injury update

Jones (knee) has gotten in at least limited practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, and headed toward being a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Rams.

If Jones is active, he might see fewer touches than usual, but he will still be worth starting in all formats. If anything, Jones will have more value in PPR leagues while AJ Dillon handles more carries. Consider both flex backs in this neutral matchup.

Cordarrelle Patterson injury update

Patterson (ankle) got in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, putting him in line to suit up against the Jaguars on Sunday.

The Falcons had no semblance of a running game without Patterson last week, so he should be busy as both a runner and receiver. If he has a setback, Atlanta will once again turn to a committee of Qadree Ollison, Mike Davis, and Wayne Gallman — none of which have fantasy value.

Kareem Hunt injury update

Hunt (calf) was designated to return from the IR on Tuesday, and after practicing, he said he expects to play in Week 12 against the Ravens.

Hunt was very consistent prior to his injury, and despite having a relatively low ceiling, he’s a high-floor play in virtually any matchup. Consider him a borderline RB2/flex, with Nick Chubb remaining an RB1, at least in standard leagues.

Elijah Mitchell injury update

Mitchell (finger) got in a limited practice on Wednesday, but 49ers beat writer Matt Barrows reported that he didn’t use his right hand while catching passes or carrying the ball.

Mitchell is still very much « questionable » heading into a favorable Week 12 against Minnesota. If he plays, he’s a solid RB2, but if he’s out again, Jeff Wilson Jr. will handle most of the carries, putting him in the RB2/flex range.
