Trevor Lawrence silences critics with dominant performance

After Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence underwhelmed in a Week 10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he redeemed himself against the Tennessee Titans in Week 11.
In the 34-14 victory, Lawrence carried the Jaguars offense. He completed 75 percent of his passes for 262 yards and became the first player in franchise history to have two passing and rushing TDs in a game, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
« I thought we just came out with that fire, with that chip on our shoulder this week, » Lawrence told CBS Sports following the win. « We just gotta stay consistent. That’s the biggest thing. Just stay consistent build off this. This was one of our better performances for sure. »
The Jacksonville offense hasn’t been awful this season, but it should be better with talented playmakers like Lawrence and wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Through 10 games, it’s tied for 15th in the NFL in points scored (21.8) and 16th in passing yards (221.4).
Lawrence suffered a sprained knee in a Week 6 victory against the Indianapolis Colts. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson recently admitted the injury hampered the 24-year-old QB’s mobility and limited his play calling.
However, the strong performance against a Titans defense that is 10th in the league in points allowed (20 PPG) might signal the injury is no longer an issue, and that Pederson can open up the playbook.
Jacksonville (7-3) needs Lawrence to keep raising his game. In Week 12, the Jaguars face the Houston Texans (6-4) on the road in a crucial divisional matchup. If they win, The New York Times simulator notes the Jaguars’ playoff chances increase from 89 to 97 percent; if they lose, they’ll fall to 80 percent.
