Ravens QB Lamar Jackson grateful for ‘MNF’ roughing the passer penalty

Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback Lamar Jackson is already a one-time NFL Most Valuable Player but, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN, entered last Monday’s prime-time showdown with the Indianapolis Colts having not drawn a roughing the passer penalty since December 2019 despite his ability to extend plays with his legs coupled with his star status. 

That changed in the third quarter of the contest, though, when referee Land Clark threw a flag on Colts linebacker Darius Leonard for a hit on the elusive signal-caller. 

Jackson expressed his gratitude while speaking with reporters Wednesday. 

« Mr. Clark, I appreciate that call, » Jackson said. « I remember his name. » 

The 2019 MVP continued: « That was a pretty dope call and it was fair, too. He did hit me in the face. It wasn’t like it was no BS call or nothing like that. It was dope to get one. » 

As Todd Karpovich noted for SI.com, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team wanted to speak with the league office about a questionable hit Jackson endured during the Week 4 win over the Denver Broncos that went unnoticed by officials:
