Calais Campbell hints at retirement after 2022 season

Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell has played 14 years in the NFL since being selected in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

On Friday, appearing on NFL Network, the six-time Pro Bowler hinted that the 2022 season might be his last.

« I know I got this year in me. I don’t know if there’s anything left after that, » Campbell said. « But I’m going to leave it all on the field and empty the tank. I’m preparing like this is my last year. I’m going to give it everything I have. »

In April, Campbell agreed to a two-year, $12.5M contract with the Ravens.

The 35-year-old played 15 games for the Ravens last season, posting 49 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

The Ravens acquired Campbell in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 in exchange for a fifth-round draft choice.

Over two seasons in Baltimore, Campbell has registered 77 tackles and 5.5 sacks, making the Pro Bowl in 2020.

In 213 career NFL games for the Cardinals, Jaguars, and Ravens, Campbell has 773 tackles, 93.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, and three interceptions.
