Brian Robinson has energized Commanders’ running game

1 min read

Commanders rookie RB Brian Robinson began his NFL career healing from gunshot wounds. Three months later, he’s leading the NFL’s 10th-best rushing attack.

« It’s all starting to come back together, » Robinson told the media this week after rushing for a season-high 105 yards in a win over the Falcons. « I lost a lot where I was, and [I am] still trying to progress in this league with all this talent. »

Washington’s running game has steadily improved since Robinson’s debut in Week 5.

In the team’s first five games, the Commanders only rushed for more than 100 yards once. Their only time under 100 since came against the Colts (96 yards). Washington has at least 150 yards rushing in each of their last three games, including a season-high 176 on Sunday.

Robinson should only get better as the season progresses. He seems to have taken over the lead back role from Antonio Gibson, who had nine carries Sunday to Robinson’s 18.

With Gibson and J.D. McKissic also still in the fold, the Commanders should continue to rely on one of their biggest strengths.

After Sunday’s win, Robinson wore a giant hat in the locker room. It didn’t surprise his former Alabama teammate, Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal.
