The Matildas are not far away now as they get set to take on No.1-ranked international women’s team, the USA, from 3PM AEDT.

Today’s clash is the opening match of the two-game series, with the next match scheduled for Tuesday, November 30 at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle.

Australia and the USA clash regularly, but 2021 has played host to even more matches than usual.

It’s revenge time for the Matildas this afternoon.

Two matches at the Tokyo Olympic Games, including the USA’s 4-3 win over Australia in the bronze-medal decider, have seen the Americans continue to mount a strong record against the Matildas.

Australia have registered just one win from 31 meetings against the USA – a 1-0 victory at the 2017 Tournament of Nations in Seattle on the back of a Tameka Yallop goal.
