Paraná Clube turns 27
This Monday (19) the Parana Club it's birthday. Tricolor da Vila is completing 27 years of existence. It all started in 1989 with the merger of Esporte Clube Pinheiros with Colorado Esporte Clube. From this union, one of the greatest teams on the national scene emerged.
In just three years of existence, Paraná was already in the First Division of the Brazilian Championship, thanks to the title of Series B won in 1992 against Vitória-BA, in Salvador (BA). Eight years later, Tricolor would again conquer the second in the decision of the Yellow Module of the João Havelange Cup against São Caetano-SP, in São Paulo (SP).
The national level titles stopped there, and at the same time the team from Paraná would lose its hegemony in the state. Owner of the title in 1991, and of the fifth championship from 1993 to 1997, Tricolor would raise the cup again only in 2006, when he won his seventh title from Paraná in the decision against Adap, from Campo Mourão. In the same year, Paraná ranked 5th in the Brasileirão and ended up qualifying to compete for the first time in the Copa Libertadores da América.
In 2007, the Tricolor was relegated to the Brazilian B Series, a competition that still competes today. In 2020, Tricolor did not do well in the competition making the worst campaign since falling to the second, adding only 41 points in 38 rounds, being in 15th position in the classification.
In the next season, Paraná will compete in the Paranaense Championship in the first semester and the Copa do Brasil, a competition that will start in February and Tricolor will face São Bento-SP in the initial phase of the competition. From May, the team from Paraná will compete in the Brazilian B Series until the month of November.
