Foz Cataratas defeats Palmiranas and guarantees a place in the Women's Libertadores semifinal
On Tuesday afternoon (13), the Foz Falls entered the field for the last time in the group stage of Women's Libertadores against Colombians from Palmirana Generations and won by the score of 2 to 0, with goals from Danyelle and Veronica. In the semifinal, Foz faces Sportivo Limpeño, from Paraguay, first place in Group A.
Generaciones play better, but Foz leads
Foz has already qualified, with a 0-0 draw, but it was the opponents that started better. The game had a strong start at the beginning, with a lot of fouls. The Colombian team scored in their attacking field, making it difficult for the Brazilian to play, who even so in some plays, managed to get close to Carolina Angie's goal.
At 21 minutes, Manuela took danger to Jessica's goal, when she made a good move and played hard, the palmiranas passed close to open the scoreboard. Four minutes later it was Foz's turn to take danger, Driely hit a foul that scraped the crossbar. In the collection of the goal kick, the goalkeeper Carolina hit weak, Danyelle intercepted and sent to the nets.
After the technical stop, at 30 ′, the two teams came back willingly and the game became faster and more open. The dispute remained so until the end of the first half.
In balanced second half, Foz guarantees victory
Generaciones came back on top and soon at 2 ′ Maria had a great chance, but hit over goalkeeper Jessica. At 8 ′, Driely took a dangerous free kick, but the ball stayed with Carolina. The game was here and there and both teams had good chances, especially in dead balls.
At 16 ′, Jessica was forced to make her best defense in the competition so far, when Maria hit from a distance. After this move, Foz stayed for a good period of pressure, seeking the second goal. Until the technical stop, at 27 ′, the Colombian team continued trying to break through the Iguassuense defense, without success.
At 33 ′, goalkeeper Carolina came out of the goal and knocked out the player from Foz. Captain Verônica hit two minutes later and extended the score, making a good recovery. With the victory, Foz qualifies for the semifinal and is the only Brazilian club in the continental competition.
